An ankle-length burgundy velvet dress from Monsoon, vintage 1990s. The pretty sweetheart neckline is finished with small velvet rose embellishments that add detail.
The back is finished with a short cape overlay that sits across the shoulders and upper back, creating a second silhouette when viewed from behind. The dress is cut close to the body before opening into a soft, mermaid-like shape at the hem. There is no stretch in this fabric, the dress measures a modern size 10.
The velvet is heavy enough to give structure and movement, and the dress fastens with a concealed zip. A well-made piece in excellent condition, one of my favourite brands ever to find.
